We have been taught to think that success is the goal. Always has been and always will be. At least in my own little world. But what if that is not the case? That it never was the case. Because success is fleeting. It does not last. What goes up must come down. But what does not, is the pursuit of excellence. If you think of it, wouldn’t that be a better way of living? Instead of fixating ourselves with the goal and upon reaching it, be happy for a short while and then ask ourselves, “now what?”. How different do you think life would be if instead of that, you pursue excellence at every step of the way? Of course, you must have a goal, a direction to move towards. The idea is that, there will always be more goals to come. But excellence is a character, a way of life that never goes away unless you want it to. And if you can focus on being excellent every step of the way, success is more often than not, an eventual outcome. If it doesn’t turn out the way you wanted it to, at least you can be rest assured that you have given your very best at that point of time. Learn from it and do better on the next one.
