Realising that what you learn in theory and experience in reality are two separate things will better prepare you for life. Reality is full of uncomfortable truths and contradictions. Many of us are taught in terms of ideals, in the comforts of ‘safe spaces’, only to realise when we step into the real world, how far removed that is from what actually takes place. Yes, one could argue that knowing what is ideal gives someone a standard or benchmark to strive for. While that makes sense, it should never be confused with the reality of a situation. When possible, it would be more relevant and efficient that such information are also then given according to the current context. The world needs solutions to its problems. But what it needs more, is someone that is able to do so understanding the complex realities of the world.
